Layering is the art of combining two or more fragrances to create a scent that is completely your own. Done well, the result is richer, more personal and lasts even longer than a single oil. Here is how to do it like a pro.
Begin with your heaviest, longest-lasting oil as the base. Apply it to your pulse points, where body heat helps the scent bloom throughout the day.
Add a brighter, fresher oil over the base. The light top notes lift the composition and add sparkle without overpowering the depth beneath.
Apply a fragrance-free lotion or matching body oil before layering. Hydrated skin holds fragrance longer and helps each layer cling and last.
Wait a minute or two between layers so each one settles. This lets the notes mingle gradually instead of competing.
More is not always better. Two or three complementary oils usually create the most balanced, wearable result.
Try a warm amber base with a bright citrus top, or a soft floral over a woody oud. The best layering is the combination that feels like you.
